  • 2 1/2 lbs flour
  • 2 tbsp baking powder
  • 1 1/2 tbsp salt
  • 1/3 cups sugar
  • 1/3 cups corn meal
  • 1/4 cup oil
  • About 2 cups water

Instructions

  1. Mix dry ingredients together. Make a well in the flour, add oil, then water.  Mix together. Add more or less water. You do not want a sticky dough.  Knead until smooth. 
  2. Cover with a cloth and rest for about 15 minutes.  
  3. Cut in small pieces and make smooth balls. On a floured surface, flatten balls with a rolling pin.  
  4. Fry in hot deep oil until golden brown on each side, about 10 minutes.
